Coper coating was chemically stripped from the surface of permalloy fiber in a solution primarily composed of ammonium persulfate and sodium citrate. The effects of mass concentrations of different constituents in the stripping solution and temperature on the stripping rate were studied. The process parameters were optimized as follows: ammonium persulfate 75-100 g/L, sodium citrate 40-50 g/L, sodium chloride 30-40 g/L, and temperature 30-35 °C. The copper coating could be completely removed thereunder from the permalloy fiber surface without corrosive attack to it. The fibers dispersed naturally afterwards, showing excellent flexibility.
