Abstrakt: In the present study, Fe3O4 (FO) nanoparticles and Au-Fe3O4 (AFO) nanocomposite have been synthesised by using sedimentary method. The samples have been characterised by different techniques including X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), EDX, magnetisation vs applied field (M-H), AC magnetic susceptibility, vibrating sample magnetometer and photo-thermal activity. Structural study showed that both samples formed in spinel cubic structure with Fd-3 m space group and composite form was also observed in Au-Fe3O4. FTIR spectral analysis showed the spinel belonging two vibrational stretching modes and Au attached over the Fe3O4 core. TEM images revealed the nano-metric morphology for both samples. The chemical composition of the samples was determined by EDX analysis. Magnetic results indicated that the samples have a superparamagnetic behavior, and a frequency dependence of AC susceptibility. Conclusively, this research has demonstrated that the samples are the most promising candidates in cancer therapy using hyperthermia. Superparamagnetic Au-Fe3O4 bifunctional nanocomposite have been detected in magnetic and hyperthermia activities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
