This article discusses the food and ambience of the Newport located restaurant One Levee Way. Levee which has become a regular buffet of trendy eateries, has added a Japanese restaurant to its menu of international cuisines. Aoi (pronounced ah-oy) does more than merely bolster the Levee's dining options, however. It offers an experience that is definitely more upscale than casual. And people get that message the moment they cross the threshold. Handmade wallpaper covers the hallway opposite a bamboo garden, and paving stones with Japanese characters lead the way to a spare but elegant 106-seat dining room, featuring black granite tables surrounded by contemporary wooden chairs that stretch their legs like butterfly wings. |
