Abstrakt:	The article focuses on the history of the term "carpetbagger" in relation to the reconstruction period after the American civil war. The author examines the origins of the luggage known as a "carpetbag," explores the implications of Black mobility, and discusses the political connotations of the word from both a Republican and Democratic standpoint.
