Abstrakt: This article focuses on a study where it has been found that RNA interference (RNAi) suppresses polyglutamine-induced neurodegeneration in a model of spinocerebellar ataxia. Spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) encompasses 24 dominantly inherited disorders characterized by the impairment of motor control because of progressive neurodegeneration, primarily in the cerebellum and brainstem. This study examines the effects of RNAi on a mouse model of SCA1, which expresses human ataxin-1 with an expansion of 82 glutamines.
