Abstrakt: The paper considers the mechanisms of the formation of time-averaged energy flows in polychromatic waves and waves formed as a superposition of a limited number of monochromatic waves with different frequencies. The relationship between the parameters of the waves in the case of the so-called unstable superposition is considered. To describe such a superposition, we introduced a quantity that we named the degree of coupling between waves with different spectral composition. For the case of absolute coupling between waves (superposition of monochromatic waves of different frequencies), situations are analyzed. The characteristics of the resulting field for different durations of averaging times are considered. Under the example of test vector and scalar superpositions of two quasi-plane waves, it is shown that even in the case when the resulting wave averaged under a long time, does not transfer an angular momentum, the resulting wave can carry a significant angular momentum if the averaging time is less than half the beat period. The data of computer simulation are presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
