Abstrakt: The WBC differential included 19% monocytes (2-2 × 10 SP 9 sp /l), 50% neutrophils (5-9 × 10 SP 9 sp /l), 3% eosinophils (0-4 × 10 SP 9 sp /l), 2% basophils (0-2 × 10 SP 9 sp /l) and 2% granulocyte precursors (top left, monocytes in peripheral blood film; top right, Sysmex® XN-series scattergram showing leucocyte distribution). Blood monocyte morphology and immunophenotype were normal. A full blood count showed: white blood cells (WBC) 11-8 × 10 SP 9 sp /l, haemoglobin concentration 156 g/l and platelet count 209 × 10 SP 9 sp /l. A diagnosis of chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia (CMML) was suspected. [Extracted from the article]
