Nano‐ferrites with composition Mg0.55Cu0.05Zn0.4YbxFe2‐xO4 (where x = 0.0, 0.01, 0.02, and 0.03) are prepared by chemical method. The single‐phase cubic spinel structure ferrite formation is confirmed from X‐ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. The lattice constant and crystallite size of Mg–Cu–Zn ferrites found to be decreases with increasing concentration of Yb3+ content. The two major absorption bands appear in the range 432.16–441.55 cm–1 and 568.25–578.56 cm–1 corresponding to octahedral and tetrahedral sites in the Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra suggest formation of ferrites. Morphological study shows the formation of nano‐ferrites. The EDX analysis approves the formation of required ferrites in desired stoichiometric ratio without any impurity phase.
