An outbreak of enteric redmouth disease in West Germany.

Abstrakt: This article presents a study related to an outbreak of enteric redmouth disease in West Germany. Clinical conditions similar to enteric redmouth disease can be caused by different Gram-negative rod. Principal signs are inflammation in the mouth and haemorrhages in the intestine, which often contains a yellow fluid. The base of the fins and the peritoneum are reddened. The disease is a peracute, acute or chronic condition, and asymptomatic carriers can occur. Samples of rainbow trout came from a freshwater cage facility experiencing gradually increasing losses. Bacterial septicaemia and furunculosis was suspected.
