Response to Letter to the Editor - Analysis of racial disparities in acute type A aortic dissection repair at a rural tertiary academic medical center Keywords: aorta and great vessels; cardiovascular pathology; cardiovascular research; clinical review EN aorta and great vessels cardiovascular pathology cardiovascular research clinical review 263 264 2 12/03/21 20220101 NES 220101 We thank Alali et al. for their interest and comments regarding our recently published study, "analysis of racial disparities in acute type A aortic dissection at a rural tertiary academic medical center."1 The unique demographic composition of our region with its large African American (AA) population enables a closer assessment of possible racial differences in cardiovascular disease such as acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD). Genetic conditions, such as Marfan syndrome, are certainly known to increase the risk of ATAAD, however, these genetic disorders are quite rare. [Extracted from the article] |
