Abstrakt: The article presents the results of the study of water bodies in the Ekaterinburg city and its vicinity (the Middle Urals, Russia) to detect invasive hydrophytes (Elodea canadensis Michx. and Lemna gibba L.) and assess metal accumulation and some water parameters (pH, electric conductivity, total salt content and NaCl content) in their habitats. A survey of 37 water bodies in the area with high technogenic load showed the fairly high prevalence of E. canadensis (68%) and less – L. gibba (27%). E. canadensis has demonstrated the ability to colonize habitats, where the pH of surface waters varied in a wide range (from 6.5 to 9.5) while L. gibba preferred the habitats with the pH value close to normal and with higher salinity.
