Stimulation of the growth processes of maize variety "Stasya×LJ 48/18", the seeds of which were treated with aqueous solutions with concentrations: 0.0005 %, 0.001 %, 0.005 %, 0.01 % oligochitosans (OLGs), depends on molecular weight (MW) and the degree of acetylation (DA) of OLGs. Oligochitosan with MW of 20.1 kDa and DA 1.0 % stimulated maize root growth without changing the mass of shoots as compared with control. An increase in the root mass was occurred without an increase in the length of the roots. The analysis of metabolites content, using GC- MS, in methanol extracts of corn roots on the 14th day of growing season, the seeds of which were treated with 0.01 % OLG having a MW 20.1 kDa and DA 1.0 % at a concentration of 0.01 % revealed an increase in the content of the plant intermediate metabolites of hormone brassinosteroids and abscisic acid.
