The current state of zooplankton was assessed in different types of lakes in the Tazheran steppe. The features of the formation of the structure of communities were identified with respect to the change in the ionic composition of water under the influence of changing hydrophysical conditions. In August 2017, the hydrochemical parameters and zooplankton were studied in six lakes: Namshi-Nur, Kholbo-Nur, Gyzgi-Nur, Nukhu-Nur, Khara-Nur, and a nameless lake. As the lake dried up and the water salinity increased, the species diversity of zooplankton decreased. The water salinity, water temperature, pH, and the amount of oxygen dissolved in water were the main factors explaining the 86.59% variation in the abundance and biomass of particular zooplankton species in the lakes of the Tazheran steppe. Different species of zooplankton responded differently to changes in a particular factor. In the assessment of the impact of a certain factor on zooplankton, it is necessary to take into account the tolerance limits of particular species to the effects of each factor separately and those from their combination.
