Abstrakt: The article presents information the drug histochrome. Histochrome is an original domestic antioxidant preparation. This drug is available in the form of two preparations for injections. Histochrome 0.02 percent solution was recommended for use in ophthalmology as treatment for distrophic processes in the retina and retinal angiopathy. Histochrome 1 percent solution for injections is used for the treatment of acute myocardial infarction and ischemic heart disorder. The active agent in histochrome is echinochrome, contains, besides echinochrome, some other polyhydroxynaphthoquinones known as spinochromes. The physico-chemical properties of these compounds are close to those of echinochrome. For this reason, some of these compounds can be present in the parent substance of echinochrome after technological operations of isolation and purification.
