The Convict Cichlid Amatitlania nigrofasciata (Günther, 1867) is an introduced freshwater fish, originally from Central America. We provide the first record of this species from Mindanao based on samples collected from the Sawaga River, Bukidnon, Mindanao Island. We also provided remarks of some fishes, including one endemic fish, the Half-beak (Nomorhamphus philippinus), and other introduced species recently sampled in the Sawaga River. We highlight the need to document the spread of introduced species in the river systems of Mindanao. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
