Abstrakt: The article offers information on the role of friction coefficient regarding contact lenses for standardized in vitro method. Topics discussed include interactions between the lens and the ocular surfaces; lubricity in studying how low-friction between contact lens surfaces and ocular and conjunctival tissues during wear affects comfort; and lubricious high water content surface gel layers lower in vitro damage to epithelial cells from shear stresses induced during rubbing.
