In this paper, La doped bismuth oxide micro/nano materials were prepared by the ethyl-eneglycol-mediated process. The structures and properties of the prepared materials were characterized by means of SEM, IR, PL, BET and XRD. After modification, it is found out that the band gap is reduced from 2. 984 eV to 2. 940 eV, the light absorption range of bismuth oxide is increased, and the recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes is decreased. The results show that La doping improves the photocatalytic activity of Bi2O3, under visible light 8h at 25 °C, and the degradation eficiency of 4-chlorophenol was up to 92. 24%. In add-on, the experiments also show that the photogenerated holes are the main active species in this degradation system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
