With a view to understand the influence of chromium doping at Mn site on electrical and elastic behavior of Nd0:5Sr0:5MnO3 manganite system, a series of samples were prepared by the citrate sol-gel route method. The samples were characterized structurally by XRD and FTIR. The morphology of the samples was studied using scanning electronic microscope. A systematic investigation of electrical resistivity over a temperature range 4-300 K was carried out mainly to understand their magneto transport behavior in these materials. Except parent compound all the samples are found to have insulator to metal transitions. Later, the ultrasonic longitudinal (Vl) and shear wave (Vs) velocities were measured by the pulse transmission technique. Using the longitudinal (Vl) and shear (Vs) velocities, the elastic moduli were calculated. As the materials are porous, zero porous elastic moduli have been computed using Hasselmann and Fulrath model. It is observed that the elastic moduli of samples are found to increase continuously with increasing the concentration of the doping element and the observed variation of elastic moduli has been explained qualitatively.
