Corrosion of biomaterials is of vital significance because biomaterials are necessary for the existence of the human beings suffering from major ailments namely heart, arthritis, and osteoporosis. The current article focuses on corrosion and its effects, methods involved overcoming or preventing bio-corrosion. The applications of biomaterials in medical field are highlighted. The biomaterials are found to be biodegradable, biocompatible which find them more suitable for wide range of other applications. The different types of corrosion with their nature are dealt. Some of major advantages and limitations are discussed which can help the researchers to focus on overcoming the limitations and utilizing the benefits to the extent possible.
