Abstrakt: Some specific features in the liquid-phase oxidation of alkenes to ketones or aldehydes in the presence of palladium compounds (Wacker oxidation) are discussed. It is shown that selecting the appropriate conditions of the reaction (the effective compositions of the catalyst, the oxidizing agent, and solvent) allows the selective synthesis of either ketones or aldehydes from terminal alkenes and ketones from internal alkenes.
