Abstrakt: Experimental studies have revealed that liquid spreading in the layers of regular packings made of corrugated meshes depends on the macro- and microgeometry of the packings and obeys the anisotropic diffusion model. The implementation of corrugated strips with alternating triangular and trapezoidal corrugations increases the coefficients of liquid spreading both along and across the corrugated strips more than two-fold in comparison with the packing with only triangular corrugations. A method for calculating the coefficients of liquid spreading along and across the corrugated strips taking into account only the contact of corrugations has been developed. The calculated values are in satisfactory agreement with the experimental values of the liquid spreading across the corrugated strips, but there is a significant discrepancy with the experimental values of the liquid spreading along the corrugated strips, which is due to the effect of mesh micro-roughness and its capillary properties on the liquid spreading.
