Abstrakt: The aim of this paper is to present a modification of the trip distribution model and compare it with the traditional gravitational model, as well as with other models based on intervening opportunities. This modification can better represent the questions of variation of land use represented by the labour supply. The proposal uses two geometric shapes to define the intervening opportunities (circle and ellipse), and a new technique was tested to define these opportunities. The study was carried out with data on mobility in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the results obtained are presented through descriptive statistics and graphical analysis. The main conclusions are that both geometric figures can be used to define the intervening opportunities and the modification in the proposed model is suitable to be applied to trip distribution.
