Abstrakt: This article presents information related to the blocking screw model which helps in late loss of bone alignment. The model represents an idealized situation of a long bone with a fracture close to the metaphyseal-diaphyseal junction. The model can be used for either retrograde or antegrade nailing. The predrilled holes in the Lucite plates allow for the placement of pegs (blocking screws) at any level and on either side of the central area at the diaphyseal-metaphyseal junction. Thus, correct or incorrect placement of transmedullary screws in situations of soft tissue imbalance, which is modeled with use of the rubber band, can be demonstrated.
