Generally permanent maxillary first molar has three roots and four canals. While there is usually a single canal in each of the distobuccal and palatal roots, the broad buccolingual dimension of the mesiobuccal root and associated concavities on its mesial and distal surface is consistent with the majority of the mesiobuccal roots having two canals. In the literature with respect to frequency of occurrence of the number of canals in each root, there is a wide range of variation with regards to the number of roots and incidence of fusion. The root canal morphology of teeth is often extremely complex and highly variable. Variations may result because of ethnic background, age and gender of the population studied. The following manuscript is a case report that describes the management of maxillary first molar with 6 canals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
