LARMES ET ESPÉRANCES DE L’AFRIQUE.

Abstrakt: The article discusses two books published a few decades apart and two exhibitions based on that to analyze intellectual and artistic perception of Africa. It is stated that the novel "Cry, the Beloved Country" by Alan Paton describes horrors of racial segregation at the beginning of the apartheid period, whereas Harriet Beecher Stowe's "Uncle Tom's Cabin" provides a convenient framework for capturing the emotional configuration of Africans.
