The clinical manifestation of COVID-19 infection includes a versatile spectrum of clinical characteristics, varying from asymptomatic carrier state to acute respiratory distress syndrome. The clinical phenotyping of the severe clinical cases that are associated with acute respiratory failure is important for the proper evaluation of the therapeutic approach and monitoring of the disease which could improve its prognosis and prevent the complications.
