Abstrakt: Purpose: Plants and materials with antidiabetic activities provide some important sources for the development of new drugs or herbal medicines in Diabetes Mellitus treatment. In the present study, we investigated the possible antihyperglycemic and anti-oxidative activities in the combination of Channa striata powder (CSP), Zingiber zerumbet extract (ZZE) and Nephelium lappaceum extract (NLE) in alloxan (ALX; 150 mg/kg, ip)-induced diabetic mice. Methodology: The following groups were assigned; Group I (normal control; CMC-Na only), Group II: ALX + distilled CMC-Na (negative control), Group III: ALX + 300 mg/kg.bw CSP, Group IV: ALX + 300 mg/kg.bw ZZE, Group V: ALX + 300 mg/kg.bw NLE, and Group VI: ALX + the combination (CSP: ZZE: NLE). Diabetic mice were treated for 10 days by gavage. Postprandial blood glucose levels, malondialdehyde (MDA) levels of the liver and serum were measured in all the groups. Results: The obtained data showed that ALX resulted in oxidative stress and affected the antioxidant status. The results showed the ability of ALX + the combination (CSP: ZZE: NLE) to reduce blood glucose, serum MDA and liver MDA levels better than the single extract. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
