Abstrakt: The digital transformation enables new business opportunities in platform-based ecosystems, as physical objects get virtual representations which can be shared via digital platforms. In Germany, this development challenges small owner-operated craft businesses which exclusively offer physical products or services. As the number of industry companies entering the market of the craft sector has dramatically increased in recent years the value chain of crafted products or services changes and often leaves craft businesses as vicarious agents. Therefore, our research focuses on examining which requirements must be met to enable craft businesses to participate in platformbased ecosystems on par. The study follows a design-oriented approach combining two literature reviews, five semi-structured interviews, and six focus groups. We identified twenty requirements in four categories: prerequisites, method, proof of concept, and usage. Lastly, we discuss which different groups of stakeholders must address the identified requirements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
