Abstrakt: The experimental trials were carried out during two consecutive years 2019 and 2020 at CRC, Chirrodi of SVPUAT, Meerut to report the insect pest complex associated with sugarcane in Western Uttar Pradesh. The eleven species of insect pests were observed to infest the sugarcane variety, Co 0238 at different stages of crop growth in an overlapping manner. The Early shoot borer, Chilo infuscatellus Snellen, Top borer, Scirpophaga excerptalis Walk. Root borer, Emmalocera depressella Swinhoe, Stalk borer, Chilo auricilius Dudgeon, leafhopper, Pyrilla perpusilla Walker, white grub, Holotrichia consanguinea (F.) and Termite, Odentotermes obesus Rambur were recorded as major insect pests whereas, Mealybug, Saccharicoccus sacchari Green, Black bug, Cavelerius excavates Slater, Woolly aphid, Ceratovacuna lanigera Zehntner, and Grasshopper, Schistocerca gregaria Walker were recorded as minor insect pests. Among the natural enemies of insect pests of sugarcane, six natural enemies were observed during the study period i.e. Praying mantids, Epiricania, Coccinellid, Dragonflies, Spiders and Earwig. The natural enemies, Coccinella septumpunctata L., Epiricania melanoleuca (F.) and Spiders played an important role to minimize the insect pest population of sugarcane during the study period.
