Despite this omission, I Identity Politics in the United States i is an important book that condenses decades of work on group-based politics in the United States into an accessible and well-structured text. Although Brown-Dean is not the first to write about identity politics, her interpretation of identity politics through the lens of political power dynamics and intersectionality offers a unique and refreshing take on group-based politics in the United States.
