The authors reflect on the discovery of 215 unmarked graves of Indigenous children at a former residential school in Kamloops, British Columbia in 2021. Topics discussed include the failure of the government to implement life-saving reforms proposed by doctor Peter Henderson Bryce to save malnourished children from tuberculosis in 1907, damage inflicted by the school system to Indigenous families, and the conflict between Indigenous identity and the ideas of the Canadian history in textbooks. |
