In the parliamentary elections conducted on March 23, 2021 Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party won the most votes but were short of a majority. The united opposition coalition won the confidence vote in the Knesset parliament and Naftali Bennett became the new prime minister of Israel.
