Abstrakt: This article develops a global information technology (GIT) model that captures the main drivers of a firm's IT applications in multiple markets with two illustrative company cases. Developers developed a GIT model by drawing from consulting experience and the relevant literature. The model is based on three dimensions--a firm's environment, level of technological diffusion within a firm, and prospective technology applications based on the existing inventory of IT applications that support the firm's operations. Three major dimensions identified in the proposed model are the environment, level of technology diffusion, and potential technology applications. The environment refers to external and internal factors that influence a firm's business activities such as the work setting and employee composition. The level of technology diffusion refers to the extent of technology literacy among the firm's employees, the currency of technological resources used within a firm, and the firm's ability to access technological resources from its external environment.
