Abstrakt: Reports on thermally-expanded graphite (TEG) as a sealant which is used extensively in the form of gaskets for flange joints and packing of stuffing-box seals for hermetically sealing detachable joints of equipment in the chemical, oil and gas, power and other industries. Plot of the density versus the specific load for limited lateral deformation of the test specimens for GRAPHLEX-type TEG; Equations for the residual strain; Salient features of the design and construction of a packing unit that contains the gasket with a more rigid support element.
