Abstrakt: The article reports that the development of cutaneous pharmacology increases the need for experimentation on human skin. For ethical reasons most experiments have to be done in vitro. However, even in vitro, human skin remains a highly complex organ whose components are not fully defined. To facilitate the use of such a system on a routine basis, researchers devised a standardized method of fabrication. Three points were considered, namely, the collagen must be cheap and its source easily accessible; the lattice must be firm enough to be easily handled; and the epidermal cell seeding step must be standardized.
