Abstrakt: Patterns of the oxidation of composite Al/AlN/Zn nanoparticles in water at different reaction temperatures are studied. It is shown that the process is characterized by an induction period at reaction temperatures of 40 to 80°C, and at 90°C oxidation occurs with no induction period. At the same time, the composition of the final products differs as well, due to the more complete conversion of Zn at elevated temperatures. The optimum conditions for the reaction are determined that allow us to synthesize a nanocomposite with the composition AlOOH–Zn–ZnO–LDH. It is found that a layered double aluminum–zinc hydroxide (LDH) forms as a result of the reaction between Al/AlN/Zn nanoparticles and water. The resulting nanocomposite is an agglomerate consisting of pseudoboehmite nanosheets, zinc oxide plates and LDH, and residual zinc in the form of nanosized inclusions. The antimicrobial activity of the AlOOH–Zn–ZnO–LDH nanocomposite in the polymer matrix is shown using the example of Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
