A bronze sword scabbard chape was discovered in 2015 on the surface of an arable field in the locality of Tuczapy (Lubelskie Voivodeship). The find was handed over to the collection of the Janusz Peter Regional Museum in Tomaszów Lubelski. The chape belongs to a group of cast artefacts of Subtype Va in the classification of V. Kazakevičius. Similar fittings are first of all known from Balt territories, where they originated and were mainly manufactured from the 11th to the 13th centuries. However, their concentration in the territory of Halych-Volodymyr Ruthenia seems to suggest that they were also manufactured in the western borderlands of early medieval Ruthenia. This is because Tuczapy is situated in close proximity of the well-known early medieval stronghold centre, that is, Czerwień, which is located within the present-day village of Czermno.
