Long-term electroencephalogram monitoring is often used to help distinguish epileptic from dissociative (non-epileptic) seizures. Home video telemetry now offers many of the benefits in diagnosis previously available only with inpatient video telemetry, which is usually regarded as the 'gold standard'.
