This article focuses on "Australian Idol" judge Ian "Dicko" Dickson. He has defected from Network Ten to commercial rival the Seven Network, with his Watercooler Prods. He will quit the talent show at the end of the current season, leaving Ten to find a replacement not only for "Idol" but also for a local version of Great Britain's "The X Factor," which will go to air in February. Dickson had been tipped to take a key role in this show, too. Dickson shares the "Idol" judging with singer Marcia Hines and former pop star Mark Holden, now a record producer, and Dickson's caustic wit and brutal honesty has resonated with viewers. |
