Abstrakt: We welcome the constructive comments of [13] that our paper on the palaeogeographical evolution of the Rattray Volcanic Province provides a very valuable synthesis of this suite of rocks. The presence of minor late-stage nepheline syenites, intrusive products of fractionated silica-undersaturated magmas ([12]; [11]; [6]), within an alkali basaltic volcanic province such as the Rattray Volcanic Province is therefore to be expected. The contribution of [13] concerns the petrographic identification of the mineral nepheline in an intrusive nepheline syenite, focusing on our description of nepheline in thin section as being "square cross-section, isotropic".
