This article presents the editions, translations and adaptations of the works regarding Maurycy August Beniowski, the name under which he was known, the nations that claim it, his personality, profession and condition. Benyowsky was a Slovak/Hungarian noble, adventurer, globetrotter, explorer, colonizer, writer, the King of Madagascar, a French colonel, Polish military commander and Austrian soldier. He was the first European sailor in the North Pacific region - well before James Cook and Jean-François de La Pérouse. Beniowski is one of those men who are always willing to rebel and to seek the elusive pleasure of the search for knowledge, as well as to present themselves as transnationals, especially in the art of the intrallazzo: a little Captain Cook, a little Casanova. Beniowski followed the fate that he himself had made to the most obvious of ends, death in battle; that assured him of posthumous glory. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
