To determine the distribution of resistance to Glycopeptides antibiotics among Enterococcus faecalis that are isolated from hospitalized persons recumbent at the unit of intensive care. One hundred hospitalized patients with urinary catheter who were admitted to be recumbent at the unit of intensive care over a period of one year Jan. 2018 to Jan. 2019. Urine samples were collected, molecular and phenotypic diagnosis of Enterococcus faecalis were done. Antibiotic susceptibility to glycopeptides and some other antibiotics were done. Enterococcus faecalis presented in 7% of cases by the help of molecular method as 100% specificity and sensitivity, these isolates showed high resistance to vancomycin, teicoplanin and other used antibiotics; while less resistance against linezolide. High resistance to immunity components (neutrophils and complements). In conclusion, E. faecalis-spp specific primers, that gives 100% specificity and sensitivity to be used in direct detection of these bacteria from clinical samples, only linezolide can be used as alternative treatments for vancomycin-resistant enterococci but not teicoplanin.
