Abstrakt: Background: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common sleep related breathing disorder with significant adverse health consequences. Aim: To determine the effect of continuous positive airway pressure therapy on lipid profile in patients of OSA using CPAP. Methods: The study was hospital based observational study conducted on 50 newly diagnosed obstructive sleep apnea patients by level 1 polysomnography were selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria by simple random sampling, in the department of Pulmonary, Critical care and Sleep medicine Safdarjung hospital from January 2019 to June 2019. Results: Out of 50 patients 37 (74%) were males, mean age 51.28±10.98 yr, 78% patients had used CPAP for 4-6 hrs. After 1 month of therapy there was non significant changes in lipid profile. Conclusion: CPAP/B PAP had no effect on lipid profile in OSA in short term and most of these patients require specific therapies for improvement in specific metabolic parameter.
