Abstrakt: Our aim was to emphasize the importance of patho-anatomical and histological changes in the liver due to fasciolosis in relation to the impact on the health and production of livestock. During the life cycle of the Fasciola hepatica, migration occurs through the liver parenchyma with definitive localization of adult flukes in the host bile ducts. Macroscopic and histological changes as well as the clinical signs of the disease, depend on this, resulting in welfare impairment and reduced livestock production. Infected livers are confiscated at slaughterhouses, resulting in economic and productive losses. Importantly, fasciolosis is a serious zoonotic disease. This fact highlights the need for monitoring the fasciolosis as well as paying great attention to the precise post mortem patho-anatomical as well as histological examination of the liver.
