Abstrakt: This article aims to offer a contribution to the history of the relationship between law and the humanities, analysing the birth of the articulation between legal and medical thought in the knowledge field of individuality at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries in France and Italy. Specifically, it shows how the identification of the organic deviations of tendencies and the pathologization of the will, which had been promoted respectively by phrenology and alienism, produced an anthropological recoding of crime. It also examines the reaction of legal thought to these attempts to medicalize justice and its influence on medical thought. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
