Abstrakt: This article discusses several issues pertaining to conflicts of authority in the Roman Catholic Church. With regard to the Church's organizational model, a similar phenomenon can be observed. The institution's cohesion is based on a system of authority. conceived in a vertical way and legitimized by a special divine assistance. Authority is thus seen as a key value in the institution. The conflict has become very open when it concerns the problem of authority, because in the first conception of the Church authority assumes a central position, not only at an organizational level, but also at the level of the values and even in the legitimation system. Every disagreement takes on the aspect of a conflict and every conflict is considered as somehow attacking the core of the institution's values. It is clearly the double movement of the social and cultural evolution of mankind with its various recently acquired self-awareness, and of Vatican II, which explains the present currents in the Church. As the followers of the first conception control the decisions, and use social mechanisms for prolonging the situation, then also the conflicts will deepen whenever they are faced with a different conception of the Church which is a matter of fact has already penetrated into the most dynamic strata of the institution.
