Abstrakt: Vertical velocity profiles are obtained experimentally for the boundary layer of a flow with an inverse pressure gradient in different phases of the periodic process of fluid deceleration. At the greatest drop in velocity, the profile has a local minimum with two inflection points at the upper boundary of the viscous layer. Chains of vortices then form at this location, testifying to a loss of stability of the laminar motion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
