The article deals with the identification of pragmatic strategies and tactics applied for realization of the author’s viewpoint in a personalized scientific-critical discourse. The ma - terial under consideration consists of the selected articles by Professor M. I. Stepanenko included in the book ‘History, grammar, poetics of the Ukrainian word’ (Poltava, 2008). In those texts, the author considered some problematic situations and presented his own views and evaluations concerning the particular linguistic and cultural phenomenon. Critical reviews devoted to the works by M. Gogol, E. Gre - binkа, diary entries by O. Gonchar were considered. Professor Stepanenko seeks to comprehend the issue of the na tional and cultural identification of M. Gogol, which is now the sub - ject of discussion in the Ukrainian and Russian cultural contexts. Having analyzed the language of works on Ukrainian subjects, Professor comes to the conclusion about Ukrainian traditions in Gogol’s style. Exploring the issue of the linguistic consciousness of Ukrainian writers of the nineteenth century, the linguist points out the influence of the Russian Empire policies on the linguistic situation, as well as the re luctance of some writers to widely use the Ukrainian language in its standard literary version. Professor Stepanenko chooses appropriate communicative strategies and tactics of textual realization of his intention in order to express his viewpoint. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
