Abstrakt: Psoriasis prevalence has been traditionally considered equal in men and women.1 Nonetheless, recent studies have shown that psoriasis also presents sex differences, with a higher severity and prevalence in males.2 Therefore, we hypothesized that these differences may be partially explained by sex-specific methylation differences. To elucidate this, we propose to explore sex-associated differentially methylated CpG sites (DMS) in psoriasis datasets from DNA methylation arrays obtained from the repository Gene Expression Omnibus (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/geo/). The global analysis combining all the data sets showed that the number of psoriasis-related genes common to the three data sets was 2455 in females and 6646 in males. [Extracted from the article]
