A trial of needle aspiration (needle or angiocatheter left I in situ i ) before chest tube drainage seems to be the pragmatic approach for the drainage of pneumothorax in symptomatic newborns. A caution should be exercised while chest drain is being inserted for symptomatic pneumothorax as rarely it may lead to chylothorax in addition to other well-recognised complications.
